Downtown Alley Art Project

Streetscapes and partnering downtown businesses will be painting murals in downtown alleys again this summer. The goal of the Downtown Alley Art Project is to continue in their quest to beautify the downtown and help curb the graffiti. The end goal/vision is to have the downtown alleys covered in colourful artwork in the form of murals and painted doors.

They are currently in search of both amateur and professional artists interested in painting outdoor murals this summer. If you would like to paint a mural contact Serena at marketing@streetscapes.ca. Please supply examples of your previous work and your different styles (ex: realism, abstract, nature, etc.). If possible please submit price estimates. They understand pricing will vary based on the size of the wall, condition of the wall and style of mural; however, please provide a ball park estimate for different sized walls, ex. wall sized 10’x20’ and 10’x40’. Pricing should include artist fees and supplies. Streetscapes can provide a hydraulic lift to use while painting.

Please submit pricing and examples to Streetscapes at 780-875-2520 or email marketing@streetscapes.ca. Please contact them with any questions.

You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown

Presented by
Vermilion Theatre Productions

Based on characters created by Charles Schulz; words and music by Clark Gesner; additional words and music by Andrew Lippa. A scene etched in many of our memories:  Charlie Brown and Linus are at their wall. Linus says, “I really don’t think you have anything to worry about, Charlie Brown.  After all, science has shown that a person’s character isn’t really established until he’s a least five years old”. “But I am five.  I’m more than five", laments Charlie Brown. “Oh. Well, that’s the way it goes”, says Linus.

Vermilion Theatre Productions’ special ensemble of young people have worked on this beloved Broadway musical, largely on their own and much more successfully than Charlie Brown’s management of a baseball team! Through a series of vignettes, the cast brings out with hilarity and poignancy the ‘inner adult’ in all of our children (and all of us) as they begin to face the world head on. This is a wonderful way to introduce your young people to the thoroughly enjoyable world of Peanuts, or to become reacquainted and re-enchanted with the whole gang. Come out and see young people expressing their own joys, anxieties and hopes through the compassionate eyes of Charles Schulz and his legendary characters.
