The FHB are known for having a sound that, although not bound to traditional conservatism, doesn’t sound like a bluegrass band trying to make new country or pop hits. They are noted for having the ability to slide between being a bluegrass band or an old-time band with remarkable ease and authority. Even a casual listener can tell that the FHB owe as much to the country music that happened pre-1945 as to the golden age of bluegrass.

Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, while his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It's foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well.... suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable to cook. Suppose everyone's alibi gets confused with everyone else's. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.Cast Bios: here

Heavy Metal
Exhibit from OSAC
Nov 1 - 22
Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre
Heavy Metal is a group exhibition featuring the works of three Prairie artists: B.A, Conly, Ken Dalgarno, and Mark Vitaris. All three artists have an element of metal in their work, either through imagery or use of the material.
B.A. Conly’s metal sculptures are inspired by the Grasslands National Park as well as her personal connection to the Prairie environment. Conly’s work evokes the movement and tone of the prairies as well as the objects and
sounds found in this setting.
Ken Dalgarno and Mark Vitaris are both photographers. Dalgarno has photographed the Crooked Trees of Alticane. This grove of genetically mutated trees near Hafford, Saskatchewan proves to be a captivating subject for Dalgarno who prints his photographs on aluminum. This technique adds an elemental quality to the overall tone of the photographs.
Mark Vitaris has photographed vehicles that were abandoned in the Prairie. Their decaying and rusted metal bodies provide a unique compositional tool as well as a study in colour and texture.
Together, these works create an evocative exhibition; one that encapsulates the unique quality of the prairie landscape. It is an accessible and professional exhibition that will truly engage the audience.

The World Wars exhibit is created in remembrance of Lloydminster and area at home and abroad during the First World War and Second World War. The exhibit is a somber tribute to the community’s collective history and is by no means a complete list of all local involvement. |
