The Root: Community Emporium
306-825-5885
Robin learned his first chords in the back of a Mr. Entertainment in north Edmonton sometime in the late 1980s. His experience as a professional archaeologist has provided him with many opportunities to view the underbelly of human history – good source material for roots rock and roll songs. Robin has released two records: 2007’s Wasp Nest Blues and 2011′s The Impossible Address. The roots and roll juggernaut that is Robin Woywitka and the Super 92 were formed when Robin returned to Edmonton from recording The Impossible Address record in Como, Mississippi. Cousins Craig Kowalchuk (guitar, lap steel, harmonica) and Greg Kolodychuk (bass) bring an inimitable feel that is bred in the bone. Along with drummer Alex Jumpsen’s sturdy and inventive beats, the Super 92 is the perfect medium for Woywitka’s rock and roll compositions. The band loves its audience, and believes that they have to earn your love and attention with every song. They are based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
